Good morning.
The Appalachian Trail was harder than we imagined it would be. We had planned a long weekend to cross Maryland from Harper’s Ferry West Virginia to Blue Ridge Summit Pennsylvania. It started easy enough with a mostly flat walk along the C&O canal, but after that we were climbing. By the time we reached the Garvey Shelter we were exhausted. We expected to go on to the next shelter up the trail, but it was getting late, we were hungry, our water was running out and there were large thunderclouds to the west. We decided to stay. The bottom of the shelter was already full so we took the loft. Not long after we settled in up there, the skies opened up and a major storm started. We learned later that a friend of ours who decided to press on to the next shelter had to be rescued from the storm. Come the next morning the storm was over, but the rain stayed, causing the whole forest to be shrouded in fog. The rain and fog would be our constant companion for the rest of the hike.
All photographic prints are printed on archival quality Kodak professional paper. This paper has a glossy pearl like finish to it. Prints are then matted with a white acid free matte with acid free backing board and placed in an archival clear bag. All prints are handled with the utmost of care and special care is taken during the shipping process. With matte, 8×10′s measure 11×14.
