BIOGRAPHY OF VINCE
Vince was born and raised in the south west corner of Pennsylvania. Sometime in early elementary school he discovered Garfield books in his school library. From that day on he knew that he wanted to draw. Not long after that a gift of a VHS tape called “Draw Your Own Comics by Bruce Blitz” which included a cartooning starter kit was given to him. He continued to draw all sorts of things any chance he could get. His grandmother knew to have paper and colored pencils at the ready for him to draw at the kitchen table on his visits.
By High School Vince, while still heavily influenced by Garfield as well as Peanuts, Calvin & Hobbes and The Far Side he began drawing a comic in his sketch book that he called Oh-No!. The name came from his very first strip which had a car driving over a cliff with a word balloon saying, “Oh-no! Not again!!” He took a few more advanced art classes as well as a graphics communications course and a black and white photography course.
After graduating from High School he wandered down to north central West Virginia to study art. While attending Davis and Elkins College he began publishing his cartoons in the campus newspaper. He studied drawing, watercolor and oil painting and illustration from Matthew LaRose, MFA. He also learned about weaving, ceramics and three dimensional art. Upon graduation he took a course at California University of Pennsylvania in Photography.
Over the next decade Vince worked. He submitted his cartoons to all the major syndicates. He started working on both color and black and white photography first film then digital. He started selling his prints and called his creative endeavor, Blueberry Arts. The name stems from his favorite berry and from the flavor of lollipops that he painted a lot of for his senior project. He also began publishing his cartoons online as a web comic. For ten years he photographed and sold prints of the Phoenixville Firebird. He continues to keep creating his art.
Vince is married and has a wonderful kid. He serves his community as a church usher and as a Cub Scout leader. He loves to hike and bike. He recently started enjoying the hobby of amateur radio. He has deep fascination with transportation history (mostly trains).
He currently sells originals of his work as well as fine limited edition prints of both photography, drawings and paintings.
